To prevent fraud and shield your critical financial information, Citizens Bank has enabled a number of security measures to protect you whether you login from your computer or mobile device.
Each time you log in to Citizens Bank Online, we run a check on your Web browser to help ensure that your transactions will be secure. In addition, you'll be asked to provide an Online User ID and a password.
We encourage you to change your Online User ID from the User ID created when you were enrolled in Online Banking. After you log into Online Banking, click on the Service Center tab and under the “Your Information and Preferences” area, click on the "Change Your Security"’ information link. Follow the instructions under the “Online User ID and Password” section to change your Online User ID. Change your Online User ID to something that is known only to you and is easy for you to remember. Always use secure passwords. Passwords must be between 8 and 15 characters, including at least one number and one letter (letters are case sensitive). It may not contain any characters other than numbers and letters. Password must be different from your previous twelve (12).
Our Online & Mobile Banking system automatically logs you out after a period of inactivity. It's another way we work to keep your information safe and confidential.
We will temporarily disable your account after too many failed attempts to log in. You must contact the bank to regain access to your account. Follow the instructions on the screen to regain access.
Citizens Bank utilizes Secure Socket Layer (SSL) encryption technology to protect your data and transmissions over the Internet. This technology encrypts - or scrambles- the information you provide so it's difficult for anyone other than Citizens Bank to read it.
Citizens Bank data systems are protected by firewalls that are set up between our systems and the Internet. Any incoming messages must first pass through our firewall, which allows only certain types of messages to be sent through. This means only legitimate online banking messages will be recognized. Any other requests will be rejected before they can reach our systems.
Citizens Bank has systems in place to detect unusual patterns of activity such as changes in your normal banking behavior. Examples of unusual patterns include transactions which are higher than the average on your account, or spending in countries which have been linked to fraud in the past. We may contact you to verify your activity. Click here for more information.
To make your online banking and shopping more secure, Citizens Bank offers you a FREE Trusteer Rapport security software download. For more information about Trusteer or to download click here.
